Friends of Northcliffe – Jubilee Event 2012
EVENT CANCELLED DUE TO THE WEATHER
Sunday 3rd June 2012 – 12:00-16:00
Northcliffe Railway
As the main event at Northcliffe was cancelled a few members met at St. Pauls Church for tea and scones. This then led onto a surprise tour of the church’s bell tower and clock mechanism and also a lesson in bell ringing. Unfortunately I didn’t have my camera with me so had to make do with my phone!
Wednesday 20th June 2012 Report
Wednesday Report for 20th June 2012:
A fairly quiet if sunny day today at Northcliff, firstly the back door is now completely finished, painted green and fully working! We’ve had a look at some of the bad sections of track and decided that some major work needs doing on two or three places. The base of the new whistle sign has been installed near the cutting. An attempt has been made at a more effective temporary fix to the damaged point but it was unsuccessful as we discovered it requires welding and grinding, as a result of this 5″ gauge trains will be unable to pass through the centre track on the ground level station, so a label has been put in the signal box to remind the signalman and the 5″ railhead has also been marked. The signalbox has been tested. The tail marker brackets have been installed on the back of all of the trucks. And finally new member Matty Wood has been welcomed and shown round the site.

Well the rain and floods might have stopped some people but we still had a very pleasant day with only a couple of short showers. Thank you to everyone that came to visit or help out.
